Keep The Music Alive.
The magical concerts of the Olympic Music Festival are made possible by our generous supporters and partners.
We are now in the midst of planning our next season but need your help. Now, more than ever, the Olympic Music Festival is playing a vital role in the community, bringing world class musicians and performances to the Peninsula and the surrounding Puget Sound areas. Please consider donating to this great cause. Your generous gift will not only help us with day-to-day operational expenses such as maintenance, publicity, and publishing, but it will ensure that memorable music lives on through the 2019 season and beyond.
How a Season Becomes Reality
Every year, ticket sales make up approximately 40% of the Olympic Music Festival’s annual budget. The support of generous donors makes critical educational initiatives a reality including the OMF’s annual Children’s Concert, the Olympic Chamber Music Fellowship, and future plans for regular winter season outreach.
Olympic Chamber Music Fellowship
Since 2015, the Olympic Chamber Music Fellowship has provided a unique opportunity to a handful of exceptional young artists from around the world. Over two weeks in August, the program serves as a critical transition from student life to the challenges of a professional career in chamber music. Fellows collaborate with world-class mentoring artists under the grueling schedules professionals face regularly while receiving guidance in the form of group discussions where subjects such as management, taxes, university teaching positions, and others are carefully explored. The Olympic Chamber Music Fellowship is a full scholarship program made possible by the generosity of numerous donors who are committed to the OMF’s educational presence on the international stage.
Free Annual Children’s Concert
For the past four seasons, the OMF has presented a free educational concert for children and their families. The concerts are narrated stories with musical exploration that focuses on team work and imagination. Following the hour-long performance, children are invited onto the stage where they have an opportunity to explore the entire range of musical instruments including piano, drums, violin, wind instruments, and more. The OMF has made music education a priority and we are thankful for the support not only from donors but also from the community in Port Townsend including a generous sponsorship from Crossroads Music and the Port Townsend Arts Commission.
At many of our summer concerts, we include a free post-concert question & answer session with the artists where audience members can casually learn about the music they just heard while exploring the behind the scenes process of how each concert comes together. The OMF is committed to providing as rich of an experience as possible for audiences in order to stimulate the mind and encourage curiosity about the vast world of classical chamber music.
