PROGRAM
Debussy Petite Suite for Piano Four Hands Franck Piano Quintet in F minor (1879) Fauré Piano Quartet No. 2 in G minor, Op. 45
The premiere of Franck's explosive Piano Quintet in F minor was met with controversy when the older and more conservative French composers denounced it as provocative. In contrast, younger composers like Fauré and Debussy were drawn to the music's fiery and expressive palette—drawing parallels with Richard Wagner's colossal operas.
Join the artists for a post-concert question & answer session immediately following the performance.
